Did you hear about the abuse of power by our Congress members involving insider trading? It appears that several members of the Senate and probably some Representatives used information they obtained in closed meetings on the Coronavirus threat to sell stock. In the cases I have seen they sold $millions in stock right after getting insider information.
Folks, this is against the law. If you and I did this, we would be hauled into court, tried and if found guilty serve time as this crime is punishable by jail time. However, our elected officials are above the law. They are all claiming some excuse for their actions. Excuses range from, “I did not make the trade, my husband did,” “I did not make the trade, independent panel did,”” I know nothing about what is being traded in my portfolio.” Easy way to get to bottom of this, FBI investigates then turns evidence over to prosecutor just as it would be done for a private citizen. Remember Martha Stewart she served months in prison for this same crime.
However our “above the law” elected officials are asking for an “ethics committee” investigation. This is like asking ones family to sit on jury. Incredible, the attitude and demeanor of these elected officials. Laws and rules are for you and I, they are above all this!
Take Obamacare, which the Socialist/Communist pushed on us. All the promises they made to us, and not one has been true. How have the members of Congress fared with Obamacare? Here you go.
They all receive a gold-level Obamacare policy and receive federal subsidies that cover 72% of the cost of the premiums. Are you receiving a subsidy from federal government covering 72% of your healthcare cost? No, didn’t think so. They also have “free or low-cost care” through the Office of the Attending Physician as well as “free medical outpatient care at medical facilities in the D.C. area. Do you have free or low-cost care through the Office of Attending Physician? Didn’t think so. How about free medical outpatient care at military facilities in your area? Nope again?
Let’s see how their plan compares with the average 21 year old making $25,000 a year. Healthcare policy for this person would be $282 per month for a silver Obamacare plan(not Gold), and would pay half of that or about $142 per month thanks to subsidies. Subsidy based on individuals earning less than 4 times the annual poverty level(about $46,000) or families earning less than 4 times the annual poverty level(around $92,000). This is the basis for subsidy, and as we see in the example of the person making $25,000 annually; qualified for a roughly 50% subsidy on a silver plan
I would like to know based on these rules, guidelines, for subsidies how Congress qualifies for a 72% subsidy. They make a minimum $174,000 per year, which is 3 times higher than average private sector salary of $52,000 per year; yet receive a 72% subsidy on a gold plan. Sound right? Nope, just another example of rules applying to you and I and not to our special class of elected officials. How are they doing running our country? Approval rate is only 9%, less than lawyers and used care salespeople.
Time to end this foolishness! Will be providing more on the abuse by our elected officials in near future, stand by! It doesn’t get better, just more reason to insist that all laws apply equally to all of us!
